Ryan Seacrest has been waiting 14 seasons for a moment like this.

“I’ve been taking Idol stuff the last couple of months: signs and photos from the original season,” the American Idol host says in the current issue of PEOPLE.

As the only on-air talent to participate in all 15 seasons of the Fox reality singing competition, Seacrest is looking to hold on to as many memories as possible now that the show is coming to an end after the upcoming final season.

“I’m starting to really think, ‘Do I want those awful-looking grey stools the kids sit on for the eliminations?’ I may go after those next,” he says. “So many dreams have happened on those stools.”

Season 15 of American Idol premieres Jan. 6 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
