One lucky lady now has William Hung committed to serenading her for life.

The memorable American Idol cast-off married Jian Teng on June 18 in Alhambra, California, he confirms to PEOPLE.

“She’s a fantastic wife and I’m glad to have somebody to support me,” Hung, 31, tells PEOPLE of his bride, also 31 and a licensed vocational nurse.

Hung, who now works as an administrative assistant for the L.A. County Department of Public Health, rocketed to reality-star infamy when his off-key version of “She Bangs” got him quickly booted from the third season of Idol, in 2004.

Judge Simon Cowell deemed the Hong Kong native one of the worst singers he’d ever seen, but the quirky vocalist’s screechy delivery and goofy personality nonetheless won over audiences.

He scored a record contract, released multiple albums and performed in front of crowds 25,000-strong before retreating from the spotlight several years ago – although his official website remains active.

No word on whether he sang at the wedding.
