Finn Wittrock was chilling as the dandy named, well, Dandy on American Horror Story: Freak Show but now he’s hoping to play a very different kind of character on the upcoming American Horror Story: Hotel.

“The fun thing about having this kind of rep company idea that every season you could do something totally different,” Wittrock told PEOPLE in an interview Tuesday before his casting was announced Wednesday.

Very little is known about the new season of the anthology series, but co-creator Ryan Murphy has hinted that Wittrock will be involved in an on-screen love triangle with costars Lady Gaga and Matt Bomer.

No other details about Wittrock’s role have been revealed, but the actor has some ideas of his own about the type of character he would like to play.

“I would want to do something character-wise that is diametrically opposed to Dandy,” said Wittrock. “Not necessarily good or bad, but with behaviors or mannerisms that are somehow opposite. Dandy is sort of polite, put together, and romantic in his own way, so maybe something more gritty and masculine and unrefined.”

American Horror Story: Hotel is set to premiere in October with a cast that also includes Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Chloë Sevigny, Angela Bassett, Wes Bentley and Cheyenne Jackson.
