Entertainment TV Allison Williams Tells Seth Meyers Her Fiancé's Proposal Was a 'Complete Surprise' The Girls star calls herself "obsessed'" with her giant engagement ring from beau Ricky Van Veen By Andrea Billups Published on March 5, 2014 09:40 AM Share Tweet Pin Email Photo: Peter Kramer/NBC When it came to her engagement last month, Allison Williams says her fiancé, Ricky Van Veen, totally pulled off the grand move without a hitch. “I was completely surprised, and the funniest thing about that is that I consider myself someone impossible to surprise and yet I am constantly,” the Girls star, 25, told Late Night host and good friend Seth Meyers as she showed off her huge and sparkling engagement ring. “I’m obsessed with it. I stare at it a lot,” a giddy Williams, who has said she dreams of becoming a mom, shared of the rock. “We’re thrilled.” While she offered up no details of how the proposal went down, Williams said the weight of making such a huge life decision definitely is a game-changer. “It feels a little different, as you know,” she told Meyers, who got married last September. “It just changes the stakes clearly. It’s really fun.” It’s also changed how Williams, a consummate fan of television’s The Bachelor, watches her fave show. “Suddenly the show feels real,” she said. “I have empathy. I was filled with anxiety for all of the contestants.” The Bachelor‘s showrunners apparently acknowledged her support: Williams said the show sent her a bouquet of a dozen roses on Valentine’s Day with the appropriate message, “Will you accept these roses?” PHOTO: Allison Williams Debuts Her Engagement Ring at an Oscars Party “And I did,” she said. And while she shared in the ladies’ journey to find their mate, Williams says she isn’t certain whether the show’s current star, Juan Pablo Galavis, is marriage material. “He is a man that is very complicated. Filled with contradictions. Loves his daughter,” Williams offered. “He says ‘Look at me’ a lot.”
