Come on everybody, let’s go!

Allison Williams has begun flight training for her title role in NBC’s production of Peter Pan Live!

The 26-year-old actress and daughter of NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams was recently rigged up so she could learn to fly with the greatest of ease when the special airs Dec. 4 (8 p.m. ET).

“First day of flying lessons for Peter Pan,” Allison said in a statement to PEOPLE. “Thinking about and missing a hero of mine who once did this and left big shoes to fill.”

The young actress is referring to Robin Williams’s portrayal of Peter Pan in the 1991 movie Hook.

The 63-year-old comedian was found dead in his home Monday.

The Girls star, along with the rest of the cast that includes Christopher Walken as Captain Hook and Christian Borle as Smee and Mr. Darling, have begun rehearsals for the performance that will be broadcast live from a soundstage in Bethpage, New York, the same location that was used for NBC’s telecast of The Sound of Music Live!

Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who produced The Sound of Music Live! as well as Smash for NBC, will return as executive producers for Peter Pan Live!

Though Peter Pan is a boy, women have typically played the titular character since the musical first debuted on Broadway in 1954.
