As PEOPLE previously reported, Josiah Duggar is the latest member of his expansive clan to enter into a courtship as a first step to marriage.
While fans of TLC’s hit show 19 Kids and Counting have had years to get to know the Duggar family and the 19 kids born to Jim Bob, 49, and Michelle Duggar, 48, they will be introduced to Marjorie and her family as her and Josiah’s courting is covered on the show.
At 17 years old, Marjorie is one year younger than Josiah. Her family has known the Duggar family for several years; the couple met while he was taking Spanish lessons at her mother’s house. She really caught Josiah’s eye, however, during a mission trip to El Salvador in December, as PEOPLE previously reported.
While her family is not quite as large as the Duggars’, Marjorie knows a little something about juggling younger siblings. She is the oldest of five girls, the others being 15, 8, 5 and 2.
Bilingual in English and Spanish thanks to her mother Analucia’s heritage, Marjorie is also an accomplished pianist and actress and has even written a book which encourages young ladies to read the Bible.
As she finishes high school, she has also been taking college-level graphic design classes. (Fitting, given that her father, Greg, 43, is a graphic designer himself.)
“I really appreciate the Duggar family,” Marjorie tells PEOPLE. “I respect and admire them. I will just take this one step at a time.”
Fans of TLC’s hit show 19 Kids and Counting can see a special message from Josiah and Marjorie on this week’s episode, airing Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET, and the birth of Josiah’s nephew Israel David Dillard will air on TLC on May 5 in advance of Mother’s Day.
