From Studio 8H to the Great White Way.

Saturday Night Live alum Taran Killam is making his Broadway debut with the stage’s hottest musical: Hamilton.

According to a press release, Killam, 34, will portray King George III in the hit show starting Jan. 17, taking over for Rory O’Malley. King George was first played off-Broadway by Brian d’Arcy James and on Broadway by Jonathan GroffGirls star Andrew Rannells later took on the role.

Killam already appears familiar with the show’s content. Earlier this year, he stopped by the Richard Rodgers Theatre to entertain Ham4Ham ticket lottery-goers with his own version of “The 12 Days of Christmas,” centered around Alexander Hamilton “facts.” (According to Killam, Hamilton’s favorite Kardashian was Khloé – who knew!?)

Killam was surprisingly let go from the cast ahead of Saturday Night Live‘s current season.

In addition to Hamilton, the comedian is set to star in a new Showtime comedy anthology series that focuses on a newly divorced man who got married at a young age and is now trying to navigate a much-changed, complicated dating world.
