Bette Midler is the lady in red!
The legendary actress is starring in the Broadway revival of Hello, Dolly! as she steps into the titular role of Dolly Gallagher Levi. The musical starts preview performances on March 15, with opening night set for April 20 at the Shubert Theatre.
The musical follows Dolly as a widow in her middle years who has decided to begin her life again.
Midler last hit Broadway for the hit one-woman play I’ll Eat You Last: A Chat With Sue Mengers in 2013. She made her Broadway debut in Fiddler on the Roof in 1966 and went on to have an iconic career both on the stage and off.

Four-time Tony winner Jerry Zaks is directing the musical, with music and lyrics by Jerry Herman and book by Michael Stewart. Hello, Dolly! originally premiered on Broadway in 1964 with Carol Channing in the title role — and it has remained her trademark performance. The hit musical won 10 Tonys and ran for seven years.
Other legendary stars have appeared in the iconic part, including Pearl Bailey, Phyllis Diller, Betty Grable, Martha Raye, Ginger Rogers, Ethel Merman and Mary Martin. Barbra Streisand starred in the 1969 movie directed by Gene Kelly.
