The self-described former “has-been” is still basking in the glow of her incredible comeback year: She recently traveled to Portugal to be a presenter at the Laureus Sports Awards and served on the jury at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.
But the divorced Hatcher, who’s back in the dating game (she’s been linked to fashion photographer Jim Macari), is planning to spend her time off from the Hollywood grind with her favorite companion, daughter Emerson, 7. And the actress is developing a skin-care line. “It’s about releasing your inner beauty,” the 40-year-old says. “It’s about not covering up and trying to change.”
It’s looking to be more work and a lot less play for Longoria this summer. After having a festive spring – a slew of 30th-birthday soirees, partying at the Cannes Film Festival – the actress is shooting the crime thriller The Sentinel in Toronto. She plays a Secret Service agent opposite Michael Douglas, Keifer Sutherland and Kim Basinger. “(There are) no panties, no bras, no lingerie and I don’t have to kiss anyone,” says Longoria. “It’s a welcome change.”
Still, she’s squeezing in time for romance. Though she’s been spotted with 24 actor Butch Klein, she tells PEOPLE she’s doing the old bait-and-switch to cover up her real romantic interest, whom she won’t name. (Hint, hint: She’s still hanging out with ‘N Sync’s JC Chasez and NBA star Tony Parker.)
Huffman, 42, will be promoting a very different role this summer: a transsexual woman in the upcoming indie Transamerica. “I did a lot of research,” says Huffman. “I went to transgender conventions, studied with transgendered women, studied with women who teach men to become women. The final key was my voice.”
The movie is a labor of love with her Oscar-nominated husband William H. Macy, who produced the film. “She’s as good as it gets,” he says of his wife, who’s also mom to daughters, Sofia, 4, and Georgia, 2.
As Wisteria Lane’s resident vixen, Sheridan, 41, will travel across Europe this summer to talk to press and fans about Desperate Housewives. “It’s huge over there,” she says. The actress and her fiancé, actor Nicklas Soderblom, are also planning a pit stop to visit his family in Sweden.
But before getting busy, Sheridan – who’s also the spokeswoman for NuGlow, a line of anti-wrinkle products – managed to sneak away for an eight-day tropical getaway to Tahiti with Soderblom (no wedding date has been set yet). “That was really beautiful and well-needed,” she says.
Yoga devotee Cross, 43, will use her free time to get in touch with her inner self. “You won’t find me at a bar or a club, but at a chat or a yoga retreat,” she says. Cross has another reason to feel at peace: She’s found love with actor Tom Mahoney. “I’m very happy,” she says.
And Cross is looking forward to getting back to work on the Housewives set. Despite the media coverage of on-set strife, the cast is “100 times stronger” because of it, she says. “We’ve been together a whole year. You see each other more than you see most of your friends.”
