Best & Worst Hair
Best Actress nominee Keisha Castle-Hughes got tough among the boys in Whale Rider, but she chose a superlatively feminine look for her Oscar hairdo. Her soft style — accented by a sweet, sparkly whale hairpin — is festive and appropriate for the 13-year-old, the youngest-ever nominee in her category.
Of course a fancy updo is a good choice for Hollywood's biggest night, but Marcia Gay Harden (nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Mystic River) took the concept way too far. It's too teased, too stiff, too big — and just too much.
Presenter Jennifer Garner softened her formal updo with sideswept bangs, creating a look that's graceful enough for the Oscars but still flirty and sexy.
