Selena Quintanilla

Selena Quintanilla, known mononymously as Selena, was an American singer. Dubbed the "Queen of Tejano Music," she first broke out as a member of the band Selena y Los Dinos before going solo. She released five popular studio albums from 1989 to 1995, including 1994's Amor Prohibido, which became one of the best-selling Latin albums in the United States. In 1994, she also won a Grammy for best Mexican-American album for her1993 live album, Live!. Quintanilla died at the age of 23 after being fatally shot on March 31, 1995.
