Melissa McCarthy is an American actress. She first gained recognition portraying Sookie St. James on Gilmore Girls from 2000 to 2007. McCarthy also starred on the CBS sitcom Mike & Molly from 2010 to 2016, earning an Emmy in 2011 for her performance. Her most famous films include Identity Thief (2013), The Heat (2013), Tammy (2014), Spy (2015), The Boss (2016) and Ghostbusters (2016). McCarthy has been nominated twice for an Academy Award for her roles in 2011's Bridesmaids and 2018's Can You Ever Forgive Me?
