Laverne Cox

Laverne Cox is an American actress and producer. She first gained recognition on the 2008 VH1 reality series I Want to Work for Diddy. Cox also produced and starred in 2010's Transform Me for the network. She is best known for her role as Sophia Burset on Netflix's Orange Is the New Black from 2013 to 2019. The performance earned her four Emmy Award nominations, making her the first openly transgender person to be nominated in an acting category. Cox also starred on CBS' Doubt in 2017 and Netflix's Inventing Anna in 2022.
