The Great Kate (Denim) Debate: Getting to the Bottom of Princess Kate's Mystery Skinny Jeans
Editors and Kate style fans are still trying to track down the royals mystery skinny jeans
What’s a Royal Style Fanatic to do? When Princess Kate appears in public, fashion sleuths are normally quick off the mark with either an educated guess at what she might be wearing or the real facts from the brand that dressed her. (Labels love to brag about clothing the world’s most stylish royal!)
But when Kate, 33, appeared at a polo match last Sunday, playing with son George as they watched Prince William ride around the grounds, her navy skinny jeans had everyone saying two things: How is she wearing skinny jeans less than two months after giving birth? And, where are those pants from?
Like many, one of the best-known bloggers on all things Princess Kate, Susan Kelley from the popular Twitter account @WhatKateWore and its allied website, initially went for Topshop’s maternity style Leigh jeans.
However, a rep from the store has denied the fashion credit and tells PEOPLE that Kate’s jeans aren’t from any of the Topshop collections.
Many phone calls and catalogue-scouring later and neither PEOPLE nor Kelley have gotten to the bottom of the mystery.
“It’s something of a Kate blogger’s nightmare: ‘Who made them and why can’t I find them?!'” Kelley tells PEOPLE. She adds, “It’s the kind of thing that makes one look skyward in hopes the Fashion Fairy will sprinkle some pixie dust and — voilà! — an image will appear showing the precise pair.”
Thankfully, we do know that the Breton-style top is from Em+Me and the Sebago shoes are old favorites of hers. Perhaps, Kate will send us (and bruised @WhatKateWore) a note with the store name? Okay, we can dream.
Are you dying to know where Kate’s jeans came from? Are you going to try to recreate her summery look this weekend? Sound off below!
