The Gowns You Need to See From Every Angle
We’ll spare you the “white is the new orange” line, but we are gonna gush about how great the show’s star looks out of her khaki separates. She wows in a Thakoon halter with a seriously sexy side view, accessorized with Old Hollywood ringlets (we think prison hairstylist Sophia would approve!).
“I saw it at New York Fashion Week and I died,” says of this off-the-shoulder Jenny Packham gown. And it seems that many Tweeters died a bit too over the totally sheer skirt, which revealed a coordinating leotard-like onesie underneath.
The Downton Abbey nominee selects a two-tone Prada halter with an oversize (and we do mean oversize) bow at the back, plus an asymmetrical hemline that gives us a peek at her coordinating ankle-strap heels. She keeps it all in the color family with an embellished red clutch.
A keyhole cutout? An open back? A cocktail ring the size of Pluto? Is this the same Zooey Deschanel we know from New Girl? The actress goes outside of her comfort zone in a powder-blue J. Mendel gown and a major Chanel bauble.
Not even is-it-real-or-is-it-faux bob can steal the attention from her stunning ivory gown, which expertly combines sheer paneling (at the décolletage), lace (down the skirt) and delicate beading (see: the bodice).
The House of Cards actress selects a look that would surely make Senator Frank Underwood’s jaw go slack: a lace J. Mendel gown featuring sheer panels (check out that profile shot!), embroidery and a wrap skirt with a crazy-high slit.
As if an open back weren’t enough, the 30 Rock actress selects a Badgley Mischka gown that dazzles from all angles thanks to the heavy beading at the waistline and at the back. She wears her long hair in a high bun to show off even more sparkle: those mega danglers.
The Modern Family star encroaches on territory, choosing a mermaid Zac Posen design with ruffle detailing (so big it’s gotta be seen to be believed) on the shoulders, hemline and back.
The Bates Motel star stuns in a Theyskens Theory gown – which has almost as much volume as her impressive updo – featuring a dramatic open back, leather panels and a metal waist-cincher. She accessorizes with Fred Leighton jewels and a box clutch.
Editors can’t stop buzzing about Padma’s flawless figure in this ice blue KaufmanFranco gown featuring an asymmetrical cutout at the waist and a completely sheer back. The TV host finishes the look with a gold cuff and coordinating danglers (both Robert Lee Morris).
The 46-year-old Enlightened star shines brighter than some actresses half her age in a sheer beaded Naeem Khan design, complete with a large circular cutout at the back.
