When Jennifer Lopez started training for September’s Malibu Triathlon, she was worried about the “killer” half-mile swim. “It’s not something that was natural to me,” she said. So, the new mom took it slow. At first, “she was swimming laps and touching the sides,” says her trainer Gunnar Peterson. “Then we moved into open water. Age wasn’t about to make 41-year-old swimmer Dara Torres stop pursuing her Olympic dreams. “I don’t think ‘41’ when I’m swimming,” says Torres, who won three silver medals at the Beijing Olympics, 24 years after competing in her first Games. “That allows me to do whatever I want to do.” The mother of 2-year-old daughter Tessa aims to inspire other women. “I hope I can open doors a bit so people only think of age as a number.” More on Health.com: Learn how to get your best body, whatever your age! – Lorenzo Benet
