GET DOWN LIKE IN DA CLUB

Jessica Simpson has been working hard at the gym lately – but she hasn’t been thrilled about getting down with squats. The singer recently posted on Twitter that trainer Mike Alexander (who sculpted her silhouette for 2005’s The Dukes of Hazzard) “yells at me ‘get lower like you’re in the club.’ ” Her comical response? “I don’t squat in a club unless I’m peeing!” If doing squats are a struggle for you, too, learn the right way to do them on Health.com! – Thailan Pham

Julia Roberts likes to switch up her fitness routine so she doesn’t get bored. To train for her role in Duplicity, the actress hit the pool in her Malibu home for a mixture of running, cross-country ski movements and arm exercises. “She needs to look good on screen, but she also needs the strength and energy to run around after her kids offscreen,” her trainer Kathy Kaehler tells InStyle.com. “Swimming and water exercises are great ways to build up endurance and stay fit.” Find out how to torch calories in the water on Health.com!

TURN A NEGATIVE INTO A POSITIVE

Several months ago, Greek actor Scott Michael Foster learned he was allergic to gluten and had to cut out wheat and flour products from his diet. But the ABC Family channel star used the news as a chance to start eating healthier (mainly protein, vegetables and fruit) and exercising more rigorously. “My girlfriend introduced me to spinning,” he says, “and the weight just fell off.” Now 15 lbs. lighter, “I have a lot more energy and I feel great.” Get details about what going gluten-free means on Health.com. – Ulrica Wihlborg

DRESS UP YOUR WORKOUT

Forget sweats! To get a fun cardio workout, Maggie Grace pedals in style on her bicycle around her Los Angeles neighborhood. “I have a basket on the front and I like to do the whole Post-World War II-era skirt and farmer’s market bag in the front. It’s sort of a whole picture that I’ve got going,” says the actress. Find out 30 other (sometimes surprising) ways to burn calories on Health.com. – Arnesa A. Howell
