Let’s be honest: Everyone’s a bit unclear about how exactly the new season of
The Bachelorette
will unfold with two different women vying for the title. But while we wait for what’s bound to be a bumpy reality TV ride (cue Chris Harrison’s favorite phrase “The most dramatic moment in Bachelorette history!”), we have an exclusive look at Britt Nilsson and Kaitlyn Bristowe’s first fashion moments! And, like Bachelorettes before them, they’re not afraid of poof or sequins.

In the first released promo shots, Nilsson wears a gray Steven Khalil confection, featuring a strapless silhouette, full tulle skirt and oversize peplum at the waist. Her signature long hair is less formal, however, worn down and straight. Steven Khalil is mainly known for wedding gowns, but also has a couture collection. (Fun Fact: Kylie Jenner wore a design by the label to a Grammys after-party this year.)

Choosing the same color palette but a completely different silhouette, Bristowe stuns in a gunmetal gray Theia column gown covered in sequins. She pulls her hair back into a loose, half-up style, clutching a bouquet of roses at her waist.

“I’m trying to be really positive about the situation,” Bristowe told PEOPLE of the competitive format this season. “It’s definitely not ideal, but it’s an incredible opportunity. And if the outcome is me meeting the guy I spend the rest of my life with, then it is all worth it.”

The new season of The Bachelorette‘s premieres May 18 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC. Whose gown do you like better? Who do you think will meet her future husband on the show?
