Fifth Harmony had a pretty unbelievable weekend. First they got to perform with Taylor Swift at her Santa Clara, California, concert, then they completely dominated the Teen Choice Awards. They won three categories (out of the four they were nominated for!) and presented Britney Spears with the Candie’s Choice Style Icon. (They’re all in the same Candie’s fam!) So when we had a chance to catch up with their makeup artist, Clarissa Luna, you better bet we got the entire scoop on their sultry, shimmery beauty looks.

Luna, who created all their looks using e.l.f. products, kicked things off by prepping skin to create a perfect palette for makeup. “The most important part of any makeup application is the skincare,” she told PEOPLE. So first she applied the brand’s Skincare Soothing Serum and followed up with Studio Mineral Infused Face Primer. “The added bonus is that the primer smoothed out the skin, creating a pore-less finish!”

Then she was able to focus on her inspiration for the night, which she said was “alluring” eyes. “We wanted the eyes to be the focus of the look and kept all other makeup minimal,” she said. “With each girl we did a slight variation of a smoky, sultry eye.”

And while you may assume that would involve layering on the product, she says it’s most important to keep things simple. “On most of the looks, I used the Studio Prism Eyeshadow Palettes,” Luna explained. “The sparkle of the shadows add a lot of flirtiness to each look.” Then she coated their lashes in Studio 3-in-1 Mascara to make eyes stand out, and added cream liner which “stays put under the hottest of lights!” (And, yes, she really did use every single product in the photos above!)

So what did Dinah Jane (above top right) think of the finished result? “I look cute!”

Next was making sure their lip looks were spot on. “Lipstick seals the deal,” Luna said. She shared that the girls love the brand’s Studio Moisturizing Lipstick, because it’s highly pigmented without being drying: “We love a good lip!”

She made sure to match the shade to their eye, creating looks that were unified but unique. For Ally (above left), she applied Studio Matte Lip Color in Nearly Nude. “It was the perfect neutral to complement Ally’s smoky eye.”

For Luna, just getting the band red-carpet-ready wasn’t the end of her night — she hung with them backstage to be on hand for last-minute touch-ups, saying, “It was so fun going to the show with them.”
