The Unofficial Guide to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's Hair Evolution
Wondering what inspired your first flippy bob? You can thank the Olsen sisters (circa age 14) for that.
But once they grew out their hair, caramel highlights and pin-straight strands were their go-to style.
In true Mary-Kate-and-Ashley fashion, they pioneered undone beachy waves long before they were a “thing.”
And then they switched things up: Mary-Kate took her strawberry strands to a dark auburn shade and Ashley cut bangs.
Curls? Sure! They tried that look as well — taking their natural texture up a few notches with this bouncy style.
And before we knew it, the road to Mary-Kate's boho beauty transformation began with longer — and lighter — locks.
While Ashley went for a major change of her own with this chocolate brown hue.
Their different lock looks didn't last for long: They teamed up to simultaneously revert back to a bright blonde shade …
… which wasn't light enough for Mary-Kate, who went platinum soon after.
Of course, their hair had to match again eventually — so they both went for the same golden hue.
And they continued twinning with a lighter blonde look, complete with equally grown-out roots
Six years ago, the sisters' go-to locks were locked in: They decided on these loose waves and never looked back.
(Aside for a few rogue occasions when they gave slicked styles a try.)
They then went blonder …
But that was short-lived; Mary-Kate reverted to her chestnut locks for a bit.
The next year, she lightened up – even taking the “hun” for a spin before it became a trend.
But the sisters returned to center-parted low buns as part of their signature red carpet hairstyles.
There it is: their natural shade! The sisters grew out their roots to reveal a color we hadn't seen since 1999.
At 30, Mary-Kate and Ashley embrace their natural texture and the dirty blonde color of our dreams.
And now, here we are: Ashley's hair is a bright shade of blonde, while Mary Kate's natural brunette hue fades into a lighter golden shade towards her ends.
