Fold, roll or bundle: Whichever method you use, the couple warns to “not overpack!” “Stuffing clothing into a suitcase creates creases and nobody has time to iron on vacation,” Kaitlyn tells PeopleStyle.
NEVER FORGET A GREAT HAT
“When you’re getting ready for that vacay, do a little prep and make a list. Ease into holiday-mode. You don’t want to leave your fave pair of Chucks at home,” Kaitlyn says, adding that she always brings sunnies, a great hat and most importantly sunscreen.
USE SHOES FOR STORAGE
Tank tops, socks, belts. They can all slide right into your footwear.
STREAMLINE YOUR SHOE SELECTION
“When going on tropical vacations, we try and stick to one pair of sandals, one pair of heels or dress shoes, and one pair of workout shoes,” Kaitlyn, who has curated two collections with Shawn for SHOEme.ca by Shoes.com, with proceeds benefiting the Covenant House, shares. “Shawn overpacks because he loves being prepared. On this trip Shawn packed five pairs and I packed three.” (Shop Kaitlyn’s Splendid fringe sandals here!)
NAB A GREAT BEACH READ
“Keep essentials in your hand luggage: sometimes bags go missing,” Kaitlyn advises. “Pack all of your valuables into your carry on – and don’t forget a good book. Or some gossip magazines!”
DON'T BE AFRAID TO REWEAR
“I recycled a couple of my bathing suits and Shawn always made sure he had a fresh outfit on,” Kaitlyn says.
MATCH YOUR CLOTHES (AND YOUR COCKTAILS)
“We do it all the time,” Kaitlyn says of coordinating outfits with her fiancé, as seen here sipping on Mai Tais at The Modern Honolulu . “We think it’s cute. Barf.”
