As the seasons tick away, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams are shocked to find their onscreen Game of Thrones personas still kickin’ it while others fall around them. So why not commemorate the feat of immortality with some ink?

Turner showed off her new tattoo — which matches Williams’ art — on the 2016 Emmy Awards red carpet, Sunday night, revealing the meaning behind her peach “07.08.09.”

Watch PEOPLE & EW Red Carpet Live Sunday night on PEOPLE.com and on People/Entertainment Weekly Network — available on streaming devices or at PEN.

“We’ve always kind of said we wanted matching tattoos,” Turner, 20, told E! News, joking, “It’s still a bit crusty.”

The date was “always really significant,” Turner said, and signifies the exact day both were cast in Game of Thrones.

“With Thrones, we were always planning since season one, if we make it all the way through we can get like a matching wolf or something,” she said. “We don’t know if we’re going to make it, so Maisie and I were like let’s get these ones before somebody kills us or something.”

The girls — who are “best friends,” according to Turner — got their tats while visiting U.K.-based tattoo artist Miss Kat Paine.

And why peach? Well, mom still knows best.

“My mom is like ‘Make sure it doesn’t show up,’ ” Turner revealed. Smart woman — the less visible the tattoo, perhaps the less likely to tempt the Game of Thrones gods.
