Julianne Hough is one glowing gal — and it’s not just because she has a six-pack that she shows off incessantly in her new athleisure line and a six-carat diamond engagement ring from hockey player Brooks Laich that can seriously blind you. She also glows on the red carpet, like at the iHeartRadio Music Awards earlier this year — and that’s all thanks to makeup artist Spencer Barnes.
So, with summer fully underway, we wanted to find out exactly how he delivers a glow that looks like the picture of radiance even in dead heat. Thankfully, the Los Angeles makeup artist recently stopped by PeopleStyle’s offices to give us his step-by-step instructions for getting her gorgeous, dewy skin for our “How It’s Done” video series (watch above).
The first step, he says, is to start with clean skin, then add brightness with a Vitamin C gel (he used VI Derm Vitamin C Gel). Then he massaged on a hydration serum to add radiance. After waiting two minutes for the serums to really settle in, he lightly dabbed on light foundation.
Next, he lightly brushed highlighting powder on the apples of the cheeks and the bridge of the nose using Charlotte Tilbury’s FilmStar Bronze & Glow duo. A touch of Lorac’s TANtalizer Baked Bronzer added warmth to the hairline, bridge of the nose, forehead and jawline. He brushed the same bronzer on the eyelid, from the crease to the brow bone.
With a dab of concealer under the eyes and a warm peachy color on the lips (like Sweet Nectar by Bobbi Brown, he was almost done. Just a light highlight of the brow bone with a pearl eye shadow (like Virgin by Urban Decay) finished the look!
