Shailene Woodley’s blonde days weren’t long for this world. After experimenting with some lighter, brighter locks, the actress has returned to her natural shade.

Woodley was snapped on the streets of N.Y.C. yesterday sporting a rich chestnut hue, a stark contrast to the close-to-platinum streaks she was rocking earlier the same day. We imagine all those highlights (required for her role in Divergent) were a bit too much maintenance for the star, who is all about easy, natural beauty. (If you need a refresher, check out her tips on eating clay and being pregnant with the world and more of her hippie advice here.)

Aside from visiting the salon, the 22-year-old actress has been promoting her new indie film White Bird in a Blizzard, in which her teenage character has a very provocative sex scene with an older man, played by Thomas Jane. Woodley’s stance on nude scenes seems to be in line with the rest of her level-headed, laid-back outlook on life.

“The thing with nudity is, it’s not something that, as an actor you want to do, like, ‘I’m going to go do a film where I can be nude in it,'” she said at the L.A. premiere. “If nudity lends itself to a particular artistic creation, then … I think it’s up to the discretion of the particular screenplay or the story.”
