The pro tennis player talks all things style in Vogue's 73 Questions series

As the number one female tennis player in the world, Serena Williams spends most of her time in pleated skirts and sneakers. But when she’s off the court, the 7-time Wimbledon winner has a passion for fashion, which she’d make a career out of if she wasn’t busy smashing every record on the planet.

In Vogue‘s latest episode of “73 questions,” Williams, who’s clothing line first launched on HSN last year, is asked what she’d be doing with her life if she wasn’t a tennis pro. “I’d be a fashion designer,” she responds, smiling.

But for now, the athlete continues to double up on her two loves, a task that she admits is challenging. Williams told reporters backstage at her debut fashion show last year that designing the line in between tournaments was not easy.

“I’ve played Wimbledon, I played the Open, I’m playing tournaments in between [designing]. When you work on the shows it’s not like it takes two weeks. It’s a four, five, sixth month commitment,” she said. “It was a lot of preparation. All of the looks–pairing it, first, last, finale, middle… music. It was a lot!”

Although her line only consists of apparel, Williams also reveals in Vogue‘s video that she’s a shoe fanatic — which is the reason behind her desire to raid Mariah Carey’s closet. “She has amazing shoes,” she says.

So what’s the best fashion advice she’s ever received? “Be you, wear your style and be confident,” she tells Vogue, adding that if she had to describe her style in one word, it would be “confident.”

And fashion wasn’t the only topic she covered in the interview. When asked to name the funniest person she knows, WIlliams said “Aubrey,” likely hinting at her former beau, Drake, who’s real name is Aubrey Graham. There you have it!
