Jackie most enjoys heading up the brand's annual drugstore Beauty Awards. When she is not reporting, writing, and editing content, she is testing fragrances, lipsticks, and products for 4c hair or catering to her beloved English Bulldog, Bowie. And of course, that mantra extends to her skin care routine, too. That's why she's lending her forever-fresh face and free spirit to La Mer's latest global digital campaign, Ways to Love La Mer. Hudson, 38, reveals she's been a fan of the brand's iconic Crème de la Mer since the very first time she was given a jar by mom Goldie Hawn for Christmas more than 20 years ago. "[It was] the first quality skincare product I ever used." While immediately "hooked," nowadays the coveted cream has some healthy competition on her vanity: La Mer's brand new Moisturizing Cool Gel Cream. (Both, of course, are featured in the brand's new campaign.) courtesy LA MER "It has a light, cool consistency that soothes and calms my skin immediately," says Hudson, who adds that her skincare secret is equal parts awesome products and a positive mindset. "First, and foremost, I like to stay hydrated. Drinking water is always on my mind," she says. "I also believe in taking supplements for skin health. Fish oil is one supplement that's not only good for your skin but great for your heart." courtesy LA MER "When it comes to cleansing, it's easy to over-clean your skin and strip it of its natural moisture. So, when possible, I wash my face once a day, at night only, and—here's a trick—I avoid using water!" she says. "I love oil cleansers that you use on dry skin and pat off, like La Mer's The Cleansing Oil. Then, I finish off with a toner or micellar water that gives me that extra clean, hydrated feeling. If cleansing in the morning, I use La Mer's The Moisturizing Cool Gel Cream, usually followed by an antioxidant serum, and I always finish with sunscreen." The mother of two also makes a conscious effort to carve out a little me-time every day: "I am generally a very positive person, but can easily be pulled in difference directions by children, work and other obligations. And although I do feel blessed in all areas of my life, I do think it's equally important to find positivity from within. I do try to meditate every day and find time for myself when I can." And she always finds fulfillment in the persons, places and things that are nearest and dearest to her: "My family, my friends, my home and work." courtesy LA MER That's why for Hudson, this latest project (which was shot in Iceland after she shaved her head but aided with a little Hollywood magic!) was not only a labor of love — but an unforgettable experience as well. "Iceland is an incredible, magical country. The landscapes are just awe-inspiring. It is very humbling to be immersed in Mother Nature and all of her elements. In some ways, it feels otherworldly, almost celestial. I spent an evening soaking in the Blue Lagoon and looked up to the sky and saw the Northern Lights in the distance. You have to be careful not to step on the moss, so we jumped from rock to rock—all that against the backdrop of the most majestic waterfalls, volcanos and mineral baths. It's unlike anywhere I have ever traveled before." Ways to Love La Mer, which spotlights five of La Mer's latest and greatest moisturizers, will launch on the brand's website and social platforms on March 1.
