The Today show host made a major interview blunder, but Cruz isn't the only celeb who thinks their feet aren't perfect.

Considering Savannah Guthrie does multiple back-to-back live interviews every day before most people have even had their first cup of coffee, it’s actually surprising that she hasn’t made even a minor blunder before now. But Guthrie really put her foot in her mouth on Wednesday morning on Today while interviewing Penélope Cruz for Zoolander 2, bringing up the subject of her feelings on a certain body part.

Towards the end of their interview, Guthrie ventured to ask the actress about something about herself she’d heard Cruz thought were less than perfect, saying, “I don’t know how to feel about this, but you’ve said, despite what you look like, you’ve said you have ugly feet.” Cruz immediately looked horrified insisting that she’s never said that and that she’s “ok with her feet.” What she has said is that she was a ballet dancer for a long time, and losing your toenails is just part of what happens, you become used to it even though it can be rather unpleasant to look at.

But Cruz is actually in quite good company when it comes to celebs who have qualms about the appearance of their feet. After all, wearing four inch high heels day-in and day-out can certainly take its toll on even the most enduring of extremities.

If there’s one thing synonymous with SJP it’s surely shoes. But the woman who made Manolo Blahnik a household name also says that her beloved pumps have taken a serious toll on the aesthetics of her feet. The actress told The Edit, Net-a-Porter’s online magazine, “I went to a foot doctor and he said, ‘Your foot does
things it shouldn’t be able to do. That bone there…. You’ve created that bone. It doesn’t belong there.’ The moral of the story is, the chickens are coming home to roost. It’s sad, because my feet took me all over the world, but eventually they were like, ‘You know what, we are really tired, can you just stop — and don’t put cheap shoes on us?'”

Julianne Moore

Who could forget Julianne Moore‘s “Toemaggedon” situation at Cannes in 2013 when her pinky toes fell off the narrow platform of her heels, becoming trapped in the straps, jutting out at a painful angle. But the actress proved she has a great sense of humor, confessing on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon  that she knew there was a possibility of her toes sliding off, but, “What I didn’t prepare myself for was the pivoting. I thought it all went fine, and I was comfortable in my shoes and I went and saw the movie.” Moore then presented the talk show host with a box of her dismembered toes to remember her by.

Olivia Caridi from The Bachelor

When you’re the self-designated villain on The Bachelor, you have to anticipate that the other girls will go after you, but Olivia had no idea things would get so personal, as the girls went after her “tiny, stupid toes,” but the Texas news anchor played it off, saying, “perfection is so lame.”

Ashton Kutcher

In an interview on the BBC, talk show host Jonathan Ross told Kutcher he’d heard the actor has some “freaky-deaky toes.” Kutcher protested that there’s nothing freaky-deaky about them, but he does have a few webbed toes. After all, as Ashton so rightfully points out, “when everything else is this good looking, something has to be messed up.”

Kim Kardashian

Finally, while they’re by no means ugly, the image of Kim Kardashian‘s swollen pregnant feet being squeezed to death by a plastic torture device also known as a Givenchy high heel is surely still burned into everyone’s brains. But Kim was able to laugh the whole thing off, posting an Instagram pic of her freshly liberated foot and joking, “Swollen feet or a new Givenchy tattoo?”
