Somewhere, Sarah Jessica Parker is celebrating. Why? Because the star’s first fragrance, Lovely, just turned 10 years old. But that’s not her only major milestone in 2015. This past March Parker also rang in her 50th birthday (she’s proof positive that age is just a number). The actress, designer and perfume aficionado talks to PeopleStyle about fragrance, fun and turning the big 5-0.

After a decade in the perfume game, Parker knows what she loves. Rather than release an updated version of her debut scent, she left its notes alone. Her favorite? The musk. “I’ve never been huge on super-feminine flowers,” Parker reveals. She also kept the bottle’s design the same (although she did switch up some colors — and added her signature) with good reason: “The cap was based on the top of a chair that I’ve had for longer than I’ve known my husband,” Parker says.

And as for that other big birthday? She experienced even fewer changes than her signature scent did. “I continue to feel like me: on my best days, on my worst days, on days I disappoint myself, on days I’m proud,” she said. “I’m sure later I’ll think about what it felt like. You know, we all look back like, ‘Oh, in my 20s I was this and this.’ ”

So what would SJP tell her 25-year-old self? “I would probably start with the same thing I tell myself today, which is: Don’t ever let other people’s opinion of you be your opinion of yourself,” she says, admitting, “I think any advice you’re going to give yourself is kind of immaterial, because it’s so necessary to have those experiences. You would think you’d tell yourself A, B and C relative to those things, but the truth is, you wouldn’t do it any other way.”

Parker’s outlook is definitely paying off. The star ditched her jeans for a digital campaign to coincide with a limited release of her scent. Sporting a sweatshirt baring her fragrance’s name — and nothing else — she gave fans a truly intimate look into her life (and workout routine!). And even if you don’t have Parker’s amazing figure, you can still be as fashionable: the star is giving “Lovely” sweatshirts away to a select number of fans who share their own favorite memories from over the last 10 years on social media using the hashtag #LovelyTurns10.
