Breakups are hard on everyone

Dealing with a breakup on social media is rough, whether you’re a spurned ex passive aggressively deep-liking every selfie of your former flame, a friend simply serving as witness to the relationship carnage, or even a multi-million dollar international fashion brand, it turns out none of us are immune to the heartbreak. Apparently, Yves Saint Laurent is of the delete ’em and forget ’em school of social media post-ship protocol, as the brand just erased every single trace of its former creative director Hedi Slimane from its official Instagram account.

The designer’s departure from the house was only just made official on Friday, but by Monday the brand’s Instagram had already purged themselves of every indication of Slimane’s very existence. Gone are his street style-appropriated fashions, the brooding images of his gaggle of It-girl models, and scenic shots of palm trees waving in the breeze. Instead, like a cruel snap of your former bae making out with their new beau, now a solitary headshot of YSL’s newly appointed creative director Anthony Vaccarello reigns over the totally blank account, ready to rewrite history and erase any memory of that previous relationship.

Considering Hedi himself isn’t even on Instagram, he’s probably somewhere in Los Angeles right now, taking moody black and white shots of his latest rocker muse, blithely unaware of all the social media drama unfolding around him. But if this is how Saint Laurent treats their former style overlord, we hate to see what happens to the brand’s spurned ex-lovers.
