Who knew black leather could be ladylike? Apparently star stylists, who this week, dressed many fashionistas in feminine leather frocks. Sparkly dresses had an even stronger presence on the red carpet, too, after making their big debut last week. But somewhat summery styles seemingly had their last red carpet hurrah. Yup, you guessed it: It’s time to see what’s hot (and not) in Hollywood this week:

Up: Dazzling party dresses: We noticed lots of stars wearing metallic dresses last week, but this week, there were even more sightings — and it’s not even party-dress season yet! Penélope Cruz was wrapped up like a present in a gold, glittery L’Wren Scott gown, while Kelly Osbourne, Heidi Klum and Halle Berry also got into the spirit as silver-wearing belles. Based on these sightings, we predict that sequins, sparkles and shimmer will continue to dominate the carpet until the ball drops on Dec. 31.

Up: Leather, leather, everywhere: Stars wore lots of leather this summer, and now that it’s actually in season, you’d better believe they’re wearing even more. Lauren Conrad made a strong statement in a flouncy A-line Johanna Johnson frock, and Jennifer Hudson also tried the trend, choosing a high-waisted leather skirt for a night out.

Down: Girlie eyelet frocks:Though Stacy Keibler looked great in her sweet sea-green frock, the eyelet fabric is a bit on the summery side — and we haven’t seen much of it in recent weeks. Going forward, maybe she can take a cue from Nicole Richie and Olivia Palermo and try dark lace, which still gives that girlie effect while remaining seasonally appropriate.
