In our weekly roundup of the looks that are gaining fashion ground (and the ones losing their style street cred), we saw ladies take notes from the gentlemen, soft hues and a bag we took to our senior prom.

Up: Menswear-Inspired Looks. Outfits with a masculine twist have been a trend for some time now – a button-down shirt here, a collared dress there – but the stars have taken it up a notch this week. Kourtney Kardashian looks sleek in her Saint Laurent ensemble and keeps it feminine via the sequin trim on her jacket and the fashion-forward neck bow. Naomi Campbell sports a full three-piece version of the style, and we have a feeling more celebs will follow suit (sorry, we had to) in the near future, selecting tailored looks for red carpet events.

Up: Pastels. If you followed any of the runway shows last fall, it was clear that pastels would be a huge trend this spring. And softer color palettes have seemed to skyrocket over night. Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o stuns in a blue goddess-inspired Prada gown that reminds her of her home in Nairobi. Pale pink is having a major moment, with a number of stars sporting the color to the Academy Awards. Even risk-taker Lady Gaga went for a subtle hue teaming her strapless beaded gown with a lavender shawl that seems to go on forever.

Down: Soft Fabric Clutches. Has anyone else noticed celebs have suddenly stopped carrying cloth clutches and started carrying structured minaudières? (If you didn’t that’s okay — the dresses can be very distracting!) We use to see pliable pieces that matched gowns perfectly (like the one carried by Camila McConaughey above), but recently they are solid and made of materials such as Lucite and metal, and covered in crystal embellishments. Let’s just hope there’s enough room for our lipstick, mascara, gum, ID and anything else we might need for the night.
