In our weekly roundup of the looks that are gaining fashion ground (and the ones losing their style street cred), we saw oversized prints, bangs worth a second look and a smoky eye that isn’t quite right for spring.
Up: Macro prints. Seeing animal patterns on the red carpet is nothing new, but lately they have become larger than life — literally. Heidi Klum (left) stepped out in her usual leopard print (we don’t think she’s ever met one she didn’t like), yet amplified it even more with oversize spots. Snakeskin was also a popular macro design this week with Ashley Tisdale in an orange-accented version, while Audrina Patridge opted for a purple-and-yellow crop top and mini skirt set. We have to say, it’s fun to see stars indulge their wilder sides.
Up: Big sideswept bangs. If you’re a frequenter of our ‘Hair 360’ gallery, you might have noticed this tress trend popping up recently. Julia Roberts (center) rocks fringe that cover almost half of her face while attending the Normal Heart premiere in New York. Cate Blanchett was also caught with some swoopy bangs that are an elegant counterpart to her ivory Ralph Lauren gown. And Debby Ryan’s platinum transformation also came with some bold new bangs. Which star will be the next to debut some major sideswept fringe? We can’t wait to find out.
Down: Super-heavy eyeliner. Most stars in our ‘Last Night’s Look’ gallery are sporting lighter eyes with lots of mascara for spring. Supermodel Cara Delevingne (right) never was one to follow the trend — she layered on tons of dark kohl for an event at Windsor Castle, which was super-glam, but not quite in keeping with what her peers are wearing. We love the dress (and basically anything else she wears), but we would suggest sticking to the ‘less is more’ mantra for warmer, sunnier months.
