Rachel Zoe oozes confidence when styling Hollywood’s top stars, but when it comes to staging her first-ever show at New York Fashion Week, she’s more than a little anxious.

“Nervous, excited, petrified, anxious, terrified … did I mention terrified? I’m terrified,” she tells fabSugar when discussing her upcoming spring 2012 runway show.

But don’t let the nerves fool you: she’s excited about her buzz-worthy collection. “I think becoming a designer was that sort of thing that was inevitable on some level, and then also something that I really waited a long time to do because the timing had to be right,” she explains. “I just felt this was the time I was ready to do it.”

Calling designing “one of the scariest and most challenging things I’ve ever done, but also kind of the most exciting,” Zoe is sure customers will be impressed with her line’s designer-level tailoring and fabrics.

Drawing inspiration from Parisian culture, London’s Savile Row and New York’s uptown and downtown aesthetics, Zoe says her favorite pieces include tuxedo jackets and jumpsuits and the “Bianca” top. “It’s just the easiest top to wear, it’s a sexy date-night top.”
