Lifestyle Style Quick Change! Maria Sharapova Wears Four Looks in One Day The tennis star has quite a fashion frenzy while promoting her new candy line in N.Y.C. By Kate Hogan Published on August 21, 2012 08:30 PM Share Tweet Pin Email Splash News Online; Startraks; Getty; FilmMagic Maria Sharapova is used to moving quickly on the tennis court, but moving fast with fashion? Now that’s a different story. “I’ve never done press tours, but I feel like this is what it’d be like,” she told PEOPLE Monday while in the midst of a whirlwind press day for her new Sugarpova candy line in N.Y.C. “I’m changing in bathrooms in the back of studios! It’s been a real adventure, but it’s fun, like a play day.” The tennis star started the day at Henri Bendel wearing a Vanessa Bruno top and bright Zimmermann skirt, finished with platform pumps (left). For a public appearance in the department store — where her line of sweet and sour gummies is now sold — she slipped into a custom David Koma dress and vintage blue Sergio Rossi heels (second from left). But the day was only half done; Sharapova then jetted down to NBC studios for a taping of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, wearing another David Koma creation (this one black with sexy sheer paneling), Henri Bendel earrings and Giuseppe Zanotti shoes (second from right). And she finished her marathon day at the Haven Rooftop bar at the Sanctuary Hotel, where she celebrated her Hamptons magazine cover in a red leather Valentino dress, haute heels, Sethi Couture earrings and a Le Vian ring (right). So how does candy fit into the athlete’s stylish portfolio? After collaborations with Nike and Cole Haan, it seems slightly random — but to Sharapova it makes perfect sense. “I’ve always had a sweet tooth,” she said, recalling her childhood years, when her parents would reward her with candy following good practice sessions. “Plus, I’ve always wanted to own my own business, support it 100 percent, make the final decisions,” she added. “So it’s exciting.” Sugarpova includes 12 varieties of candy, including “Chic,” gummy shoes and handbags (fitting in with her love of fashion) and “Sporty,” tennis ball-shaped gum. There are also fish, spiders, worms, bears and more. “Everyone loves candy,” Sharapova added. “So this was just a lot of fun for me.” –Kate Hogan YOU ASKED, WE FOUND: STAR LOOKS!
