Ever wonder what it’s really like at Sundance? Do stars really wear Sorel boots and giant jackets all day? Does anyone actually hit the slopes? People Stylewatch’s social media director, Gena Kaufman, headed out to the Lipton Tea and Essie Sparkle Lounge to find out.
This past weekend, I headed to Park City, Utah with the PEOPLE StyleWatch team, to see the celebs in their best winter fashions, including (I’d hoped) some furkini-spotting. Unfortunately, no Kardashians in questionable swimwear were seen.

However, I did get my fill of stargazing and style-watching while hanging out at the Lipton Sparkling Iced Tea House for a few days. I drooled over the many celebs who stopped by, like Alexander Skarsgard, Adrian Grenier, Connie Britton and her flawless hair, and Brittany Snow (who hosted a party — with an American Authors performance! — at the Lipton House Friday night).
Plus, since we partnered with Essie to have a manicure station, I picked up on all the hottest trends for nails at the film fest. First: the most-requested mani was white with sparkly gold accents, according to the manicurists. (Perhaps it was an attempt to create a snowy look, despite the lack of snow actually on the ground in Park City?) Second, the mani looked best when worn with star-fave plaid tops and lots of jewelry.
And third and best of all, it’s not just ladies who go crazy for a free mani. While it was mostly women waiting in line for a paint job, several gentlemen got in on the action. At one point, two of the three mani chairs were taken by guys, and in one of my favorite moments of the weekend, The Red Road star Jason Momoa requested a nail file, fixing up his broken nail while posing for photos with co-star Julianne Nicholson. Don’t you just love a man who’s not afraid of a little pampering?
