It’s easy to get caught up in all the glam surrounding the Oscars best dressed ladies, but you can’t miss these dudes who put some serious personality into their looks. Terrence Howard wore a custom robe from the lingerie brand La Perla, Pharrell Williams was decked out in Chanel necklaces and there were many more surprising styles from risk-taking guys.

Gosling usually sticks to simple, sleek designs, but today he accentuated his traditional black tuxedo from Gucci DIY Made to Order with a velvet shawl lapel and ruffled evening shirt that brought a certain type of throwback ’70s vibe to his look.

By now we can always expect a surprising accessory moment from fashion-forward Williams (remember his Chanel beanie at the 2017 Golden Globes?). Well, he certainly didn’t disappoint at the Oscars with his layers and layers of black-and-silver, beaded, chain link Chanel necklaces and white lapel pin.

Hidden Figures star Aldis Hodge looked dapper in his perfectly fitting navy tux, but what really caught our attention was the cool lapel chain he accessorized with.

Howard surprised us all by wearing the beloved pricey lingerie brand, La Perla, on the carpet. He donned a made-to-measure smoking jacket by the line featuring a subtle pattern, wide cuffs and belted sash.

Also kicking up their style in fun and unexpected ways? Sunny Pawar, Sting and Josh Dallas. Dallas accentuated his velvet Isaia tux with a sparkly Kimberly McDonald flower pin on his lapel. Sting brought his signature skinny scarf to the carpet to finish off his black snug-fitting suit. And finally, the most adorable man on the red carpet, Lion‘s Pawar dressed like a very dapper dude with his black tux, but brought some fun accents with his colorful green-and-yellow sneakers.

And finally, Casey Affleck is wearing the exact same 14-karat gold-and-ruby AIDS ribbon pin that Elizabeth Taylor wore in 1993 when she received her Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for her outstanding commitment to the AIDS cause.
