As if Omarosa Manigault didn’t already have enough on her plate (ICYMI: her former Apprentice boss Donald Trump recently appointed her as the Director of African American Outreach for his presidential campaign) now there’s something else to add to her to-do list: wedding planning!

The Apprentice alum got engaged at the end of July to Jacksonville pastor John Allen Newman, and despite Election Day mere months away, the star’s not putting her wedding planning on hold — she’s too excited. Manigault spilled all the details to PeopleStyle about the ring, the dress and of course, the fiancé.

On the five carat engagement ring Newman gave her…

I don’t know how to describe this magnificent piece of jewelry! He got it designed by a friend and Atlanta-area jeweler. I said to him, ‘This is an engagement ring?!’ And he said, ‘That’s engagement, wedding band and anniversary!’ I know he really wanted to make a statement with the ring and he did. The thing is spectacular.”

On their wedding ceremony inspiration…

Our most memorable and romantic date was around end of this past February, early March at the Tidal Basin in Washington D.C. to see the cherry blossoms. We’re trying to capture the same spirit as that — that scene and cherry blossoms and love and new beginnings.

On who they’re inviting…

We’re getting married in Jacksonville, Florida at the Sanctuary of Mount Calvary baptist church (where [Newman] is a pastor). The tricky part is, his church is invited and my church in Los Angeles (where I am an assistant pastor) is invited. His church can hold 3,000 people and mine can hold 500, so we are trying to find a reception venue that can accommodate everyone. It’s not just a marriage of two people, but it’s a marriage of two congregations.

On her dream dress…

I definitely want to do multiple dresses. My mother has already been buying bridal magazines and everything! Jovani has always been a big designer for me. She does a lot of couture pieces, so I would love to wear one. I was so inspired looking at Ciara’s wedding dress. It changed the game. But getting married in front of our churches and becoming a pastor’s wife, [my dress] has to be stylish but have a level of modesty.

On being engaged to a Democratic appointee, while working for the Trump campaign…

It’s very difficult because John is a high-level Democrat and political appointee. It’s a very unique aspect of our relationship. We’re the new James Carville and Mary Matalin. We’re the most unique political couple in America in the sense that we’re literally on as far ends of the spectrum as you can possibly get. We have to find a way to balance that. When I told him about what I was doing with the campaign, his only concern was if I can truly make an impact in the role I’m about to take on. When he felt that was something I was committed to, he felt better.

On making her relationship work…

The politics is separate. The love that we have for each other transcends all political parties, views and stances. We don’t always agree on political issues but we do agree to support each other. All of his friends are like, ‘What’s going on? Your future wife is a Trump supporter!’ and people ask me, ‘How is it that you’re about to marry a high-level Democrat?’ We are each other’s refuge from the craziness.
