Olivia Palermo: You're Not Going to See Me in a Crop Top
The fashionista opens up about her favorite spring trends.

It might be hard to believe, but not every celebrity is crop top crazy. One of our favorite street style stars made a surprising fashion revelation to us about the midriff-baring trend seen all over Hollywood.
“A crop top is an example of a trend I will not be trying,” Palermo told PEOPLE at the Piperlime headquarters in San Francisco. “It doesn’t translate the same elegance it once had.” (Somewhere, Kim Kardashian and Miley Cyrus are clutching their pearls.)
There are a few ’90s trends the Piperlime guest style editor (check out her spring/summer picks here!) will consider incorporating into her warm-weather wardrobe. “I recently became a fan of the culotte,” she shared of the skirt-meets-shorts style. “They can be very chic with a pair of heels when the proportions are right. I’m not typically a fan of chokers, but I make an exception when they exactly match the neckline. They can look very clean and very modern.”

And if you’ve ever found yourself lost in Palermo’s Instagram feed or her website (we have), you know she always has the perfect outfit for any occasion. “I dress for the atmosphere and environment more than the company,” she revealed. So we decided to ask her the story behind the three recent looks we love above.
- 1.) “It’s a great weekend outfit, and has a comfortable Sunday feel.” (Two editors own these Paige overalls, and we’d have to agree!)
- 2.) “This is a combination of four of my favorite pieces, and I loved that they all worked together,” she said of the look which included a voluminous Dior skirt, Aquazzura pumps and a blue velvet clutch for a pop of color.
- 3) “This again is a great weekend outfit. I wore it on a rainy day.” (Rundown: Dior coat, Paige jeans, Stuart Weitzman boots and a Nina Ricci bag.)
