What Our Editors Are Really Bringing to Fashion Week

I bought this bag used off Drew Barrymore from a Goop charity sale, and while that whole sentence is absurd, the bag itself holds everything while still being structured enough to look polished. That includes my Real Person change of shoes (this year's are Neil J. Rodgers, and while they're comfortable, I'm way too lazy to hike to the subway in heels); my Fashion Sunglasses (these ones are Self-Portrait x Le Specs); the things I'll need after I try to brave an interminable taxi line in zillion-degree heat (BKR water bottle, Supergoop makeup-setting mist sunscreen, a tiny vial of Flowerbomb and Compeed blister cushions); and a zillion little things to help combat my appearance of generally unraveling during the day (Glossier lipstick, RMS luminizer, Laura Mercier concealer compact and pins, both safety and bobby). Finally, and most importantly, a superbright Minnie & Emma phone case, to ensure I'm never digging in my enormous purse for my phone while Snappable moments pass me by.

My secret to Fashion Week is The Pouch. I like to pack one in my ginormous tote for work, then leave most of my stuff (like a change of shoes, my laptop and gym clothes) at my desk and travel with a cute little pocket, like this fringed one from Loeffler Randall. I stuff only the essentials inside: My giant iPhone with a shark cover, Ivi's Daggerwing sunnies, a travel Mophie charger and an aqua Poppin pen (my fave color). Plus, I never leave without a few key makeup items: Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Eye Swirl and Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer (they work amazing in combination to cover up undereye circles from lack of sleep), CoverGirl's TruNaked palette (my new go-to, and so much better than expensive palettes!), Laura Mercier eyebrow pencil and, finally, M.A.C lipstick in Lady Danger for a pretty pop on the go.

I've found that the bigger my bag, the more unnessary stuff I manage to throw in it -- which is why I downsize for fashion week, in turn saving my arms and my sanity. This mini messenger bag from The Cambridge Satchel Company x Melissa is a bright update to my usually-all-black outfits, and allows me to fit only what I really need: my Butter London Shadow Clutch Palette (it's customizble, so it holds my everyday eyeshadows and powders, and has a big mirror for on-the-go touch-ups), my favorite Chantecaille concealer pot, Tom Ford Black Orchid solid perfume (so I never have to worry about it breaking), a tiny bottle of Uma Pure Energy Wellness Oil (for when coffee isn't enough), Ahava hand cream (I can't go anywhere without it), Altoids, and a compact Memobottle water bottle (it's flat in order to fit perfectly in any bag). And of course, my mini Smythson notebook and a pen are always by my side.

I try to be as no-frills as possible when it comes to Fashion Week (and most other things that have frills attached), so I'm reaching for this super-practical Rebecca Minkoff backpack. It has a handy sleeve for my laptop, plus plenty of room for my other essentials: both phones (so many reasons, but mostly so I always have extra lighting for Instagram), Advil (self-explanatory), Purell wipes (ditto), a Lumee case (backstage selfies), my pretty Maybelline Master Strobing Stick highlighter (ditto), ThinkThin protein bars (Cinnamon Bun White Chocolate is my current favorite), my Mara Hoffman for Sephora makeup bag/catch-all and a USB charger tassel keychain the nice folks at Twitter gave me a while back that's saved my life on at least 100 occasions (here's a similar option).

Like Alex, I bought this Alexander Wang carryall used from Goop's latest charity sale. In fact, it's straight out of Gwyneth Paltrow's closet. I love it because it's the ultimate Mary Poppins' bag and fits everything I could ever need. (Seriously, I think this bag could fit a small child.) Most importantly it fits snacks: Traveling in between shows takes a long time so I always make sure to have a Kind Bar and a Aloe Gloe organica aloe water on me. I also got my hands on the FIJI Amazon Dash, which is Wi-Fi connected and reorders your favorite product with the press of a button. To hydrate my skin, I carry Caudalie's Beauty Elixir (check out the bottle's makeover thanks to designer Jason Wu!), and The Honest's hand sanitizer spray is surprisingly nourishing. And when I'm too shiny I have my Palladio rice paper oil-absoring tissues. For my hair, I bring Amika's travel-size dry shampoo with me everywhere and a mini Wet Brush. Rounding out my bag, I keep Charlotte Tilbury's "Cheek to Chic" blush for an instant pop of color, and her "Rock 'N Kohl" eyeliner, Giorgio Armani's Rouge Ecstasy lipsick in 104 (it's the best neutral lip color I've found in a long time) and a pair of Eyebuydirect sunnies. And last but not least, everyone's go-to, a tin of Altoids. #basic

During Fashion Week, I like to keep a light load (when dashing around to various backstages, lugging around a heavy carryall wreaks havoc on my shoulders). Which is this year I'll be toting around my personalized Mini Cambridge Satchel, which will hold only a few necessities, including my favorite cat wallet, my Invisalign retainer case (ugh), my two (!) phones and a floral-print portable ban.do charger. And because it'll probably be a bit muggy, there's no way I'm leaving my apartment without my go-to lip balm (Glossier's Rose Balm Dotcom), Colorescience's Sunforgettable Mineral Sunscreen Brush SPF 30 (for SPF reapplication!), French Girl Organics Floral Toner (for a mid-day spritz) and an adorable set of oil-blotting sheets from Korea Town.

Because there's so much running around during NYFW, I try to carry a small(er) bag, like this Luana Italy top-handle satchel. It's big enough to fit all of the essentials, but isn't going to be a pain to lug around all day. Speaking of being on-the-go, my iPhone case with the charger in it comes in handy. I also make sure to never forget my Mophe battery pack charger just for some extra back-up, and in the case that my chargers fail me, I go back to the stone age with a small notepad and pen that I carry that includes my schedule for the day and room for notes on the shows. Unfortunately, not all shoes are as comfortable as we'd like them to be (no matter how cute they are), so Compeed is always on the top of my must-have with me list. They're a life saver — there's nothing worse than a blister during NYFW. Another item on my list is a Tide to Go pen for those accidental coffee spills, a Kind Bar for when there's no time for a meal, a travel size lint roller because no matter how many times I de-lint myself, somehow it manages to find me (and more times than not I'm in some kind of black), tissues and breath freshener (for all of the coffee I drink in-between shows). Sunglasses are always a must. I carry favorite Italia Independent round velvet pair and a SEE Eyewear wet pack cleaner to keep them smudge-free — they're perfect for travel. And because the days can be quite long, a touch-up is usually needed, so I carry a compact, concealer, MAC lip primer (which helps to keep my lipstick on longer) and my go-to YSL lipstick.
