New Eco-Friendly Fashion Launches to Shop This Earth Day

In honor of Earth Day, the brand is launching solar-powered timepieces to reduce the number of batteries that could later end up in landfills. The rest of the watch was also designed with the environment in mind — the straps are constructed from vegan leather and renewable plastics.

On Earth Day, the retailer launched its new Better Republic initiative, as a way to reaffirm its sustainability goals and eco-friendly practices. Through the initiative, the brand introduced a cool new way to source its vintage styles (see the next slide) and created a collection of eco-friendly products in its new platform, the Better Shop. This line of dresses, tops, and bottoms uses sustainable materials such as organic cottons, recycled nylons and polyesters to lower its environmental impact.

As of this year, 100% of Teva sandals' iconic straps are made using traceable, verifiable recycled plastic using Repreve yarn. With this initiative over 9 million plastic bottles will be kept out of landfills.

The iconic American brand is expanding its Earth Polo offering this year. Each shirt is made from recycled plastic bottles and dyed with a waterless process, all in an effort to underscore the company's pledge to remove 170 million plastic bottles from landfills and oceans by 2025. 

The classic tops come in 19 colorways for men including long-sleeve silhouettes, seven colors for women, and nine colors for kids, along with printed design options.

The philanthropic footwear brand is extending its eco-friendly ways in its new Earthwise collection. All shoes in the line are made from Tencel Lyocell fibers and dyed with pigments derived from natural botanicals for 100% chemical-free color. In addition, its new styles in the Spring collection also keep the environment in mind with shoes made from recycled polyester.

The brand partnered with the online vintage retailer Thrilling to create a special shop that features vintage Banana Republic pieces. These items are sourced from the best re-sale clothing stores in the country. 100% of the proceeds from each sale will go back to the independent shops, most of which are female-owned businesses.

The casual footwear brand known for its fabric flats launched a fully sustainable sneaker, available in four fresh colors. Without compromising comfort, each "Ashore" sneaker is made out of four post-consumer recycled plastic bottles.

The direct-to-consumer knitwear brand launched its first-ever recycled cashmere collection, Cashmere Reborn. The luxe knits are made from post-consumer yarn that has been sorted by fiber length, shredded and respun back into 100% cashmere yarn. The collection consists of soft lightweight tops and bottoms available in three colorways; rose, bone and navy. All items are GRS (Global Recycle Standard) certified, 100% Fair Trade certified and 100% cashmere.

Allbirds is already known for its dedication to the environment and innovative use of natural and recycled materials, but the brand is taking things one step further. It just introduced a new Carbon Footprint label on every item it produces, to create an easy way for shoppers to know how many carbon emissions are emitted in the creation process.

The new Smart GUESS Eco line, features men’s and women’s apparel made with environmentally-conscious materials. 

The denim pieces feature Tenceltm lyocell with Refibratm technology — an innovative process that helps to reduce industry waste by upcycling cotton scraps. The T-shirts and tanks are made with 100% organic cotton, while the knit tops and dresses use Lenzing’s Tenceltm Lyocell or modal.

Gap just created its most sustainable denim capsule collection to date. BetterMade (which consists of bottoms and denim jackets for men, women and children) is crafted with 100% premium organic cotton; stretch items are woven with the world’s first GRS-certified recycled stretch yarns; and all garments are finished with 100% recycled thread.

In addition, the denim is a part of Gap’s Washwell program, which uses 20% less water than a standard wash process and made in a way that minimizes impact on waterways and the environment.
