You know how sometimes all you can think about is how badly you need a haircut, so you just cancel all your plans and hit the salon? Natalie Portman knows that feeling too. Except the only difference is, she experienced it sometime in between the London and Paris premieres of Thor: The Dark World, and she got to debut the new do on a global stage.

Tuesday night, she walked the red carpet in ladylike Dior, complete with a long, bouncy brunette ponytail. Wednesday night, she was back in Dior, but with a noticeably different hairstyle. Rather than the midlength light brown waves she’s had for ages, Portman sported a blunt, barely shoulder-length crop parted in the center.

And to add just a little attitude to her delicate features, she also traded her allover highlights for a subtle (and trendy) ombré color, starting close to her natural hue at the roots and fading into a bright blonde at the end. And with light makeup, no earrings along and the V-neckline of her pretty, embellished floral dress, Portman appeared ready to let her new look take center stage.

What do you think of Portman’s edgier new do? We’re loving it on her.
