Music Video Style Roundup: It's Time to Talk About Katy Perry's Old Lady Dancer Disguise & Lea Michele's Unitards
You have to see these two singers' music video styles
We imagine that recording artists must have to put a lot of thought into music videos, meticulously mapping out everything from the storyline to the wardrobe to the extras who bop around in the background. And when you’re Katy Perry, whose done everything from swinging on vines and wrestling alligators to dancing around in a cupcake bustier, it must get really hard to one-up yourself. But the singer managed to do so (naturally) in her new music video for “Birthday.” You’ll see what we mean when you watch the teaser above.
The actress goes incognito as a number of “birthday party performers” — an elderly burlesque dancer named Goldie, alcoholic clown Kriss, Jewish party entertainer Yosef Shulem, Ace the worn-out Animal Trainer and the social media-obsessed Princess Mandee who does children’s face paint, constantly Tweets and looks the most like Perry. We really would love to see the transformation process for all of these looks, but for now you’ll just have to marvel at the split below.
In more music video news, Lea Michele has been busy filming her latest video for “On My Way,” and has been giving fans an inside look at all of the Coachella-inspired outfits she’s been wearing, from jungle-printed hot pants and a white plunging onesie with Charles Albert jewelry to what looks like a black cutout bathing suit with Old Gringo ankle boots. All we know: Skin is definitely in for the Glee star.
