Lifestyle Style This Model Wiped Out on the VS Fashion Show Runway - but Gracefully Recovered The five-time Victoria's Secret Fashion Show model handled her wipeout with grace By Kaitlyn Frey Kaitlyn Frey Instagram Twitter Assistant Style & Beauty Editor, PEOPLE People Editorial Guidelines Published on November 28, 2017 10:28 PM Share Tweet Pin Email Somehow, year after year, the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show models make it look like a walk in the park each time they perfectly strut down the runway wearing massive (and heavy!) wings, lingerie and sky high heels. But this year, a slip-up happened. Model Ming Xi experienced every model's worst nightmare when she tumbled to the floor mid-runway during the taping of this year's show in Shanghai in front of 18,000 people. Xi, who made her fifth VS Fashion Show appearance this year, wore an extravagant ensemble during the A Winter's Tale section of the show, and as she twirled her chiffon train, the model slipped on the runway and fell down to her knees. David Fisher/REX/Shutterstock The model perched herself back up onto her knees, adjusted her gigantic floral headpiece and got right back up — with the help of one of her fellow models, of course. David Fisher/REX/Shutterstock After getting back up, Xi posed at the end of the runway like a pro, as if her fall had never even happened. But don't expect to see this moment in the final cut of the fashion show when it airs on CBS on November 28th at 10p.m. EST. Victoria's Secret traditionally tapes two run-throughs of the show for this very reason, so the tumble will likely be removed from the final show. It's not uncommon for even the most experienced models to slip on the runway. Bella Hadid, who walked alongside Xi at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show the past two years, famously wiped out on the Michael Kors Spring 2017 runway last fall. "As many of you may already know, I fell during my 5th year walking at the Victoria's Secret show yesterday. It was no doubt one of the hardest moments I have ever had to go through in my career, especially since the show was taking place in my hometown, in front of my mother's and my people's eyes," she said on Instagram. David Fisher/REX/Shutterstock Despite her tumble, Xi explained how thankful she felt for the outpouring support she received. "However, the support I received from everyone yesterday was incredible and I am truly grateful to everyone who was there for me. @ed_razek Thank you for your supportive words and your continuous support throughout these 7 years," she said. David Fisher/REX/Shutterstock "@giizeleoliveira Thank you for helping me up after the fall, it was a very selfless and loving act from you. Thank you to all the girls who rushed to comfort me at backstage after what had happened, you are all family to me. Lastly thank you to everyone who sent and left me supportive messages.
