Now that you’ve finally stopped binge-watching Netflix‘s newest sci-fi hit Stranger Things and knocking on all your walls to make sure they are not in fact a portal to an alternate dimension, it’s time to become obsessed with every detail from the show all over again. If your mind was already totally blown after hearing Gaten Matarazzo (a.k.a. Dustin, the adorably lisping, IRL Ash Ketchum from Pokémon), belt out a song from Les Misérables, just wait until you see what Millie Bobby Brown, better known as Eleven, looked like prior to her Department of Energy-sanctioned makeover.

Much to the delight of Duffer brother-obsessees everywhere, the 12-year-old actress captured the moment she transformed into her supernatural alter ego for posterity, posting a time-lapse video to her Twitter account on Sunday. In the short film, we see Brown go from regular tween with brown shoulder-length hair to full-blown extraterrestrial as the hairdresser trims one lock at a time, finally going in with the clippers to get that now legendary buzzcut.

In an essay for EW, the show’s creators talked about this precise moment, writing, “When the day of the haircut finally arrived, Millie’s mom brought out a camcorder, while her dad ran away with tears in his eyes, unable to watch. It was a pretty dramatic scene. But also very quick. Within 10 minutes we had shaved it all off and slapped a fake ’11’ tattoo on Millie’s wrist. Millie looked at herself in the mirror, gave her best [Mad Max: Fury Road heroine] Furiosa scream — and Eleven was born.”

Sadly, it appears that [SPOILER ALERT] much like Eleven, Millie’s buzz cut is no longer of this world [END SPOILER ALERT] and the actress is once again growing out her hair. But just like Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman at the end of Casablanca, at least Eleven and her bald head will always will always have the “Upside Down.”
