The Most Major Metallic Eyeshadow Looks to Try This Fall
Metallic eyeshadow is like wearing jewelry on your lids, says Olivia’s makeup artist Mary Jane Frost, who used a single gold shadow to create her look. "Concentrate the color on the lid and diffuse it near the eye socket," she says, recommending using a cotton swab to soften the edges of the shadow. "With Olivia, I paired her golden eye with a dark antique pink lip, to accentuate the gold,” she explains.

Dare to go bold? Lupita’s orangey-gold eyeshadow is the perfect combination of shocking and seductive — and (surprise!) it’s not impossible to create. "This look is about bold metallic strokes for high drama on the lids," says Lancôme makeup artist Nick Barose. "I used a shimmery gold palette that can be used wet or dry, and to make it pop, I wet the brush with the Mehron Mixing Liquid before dipping it into the palette and painting it onto the lids."

She might be a pro at doing her own glam, but Zendaya turned to makeup artist Sheika Daley for her "outer-wordly" Met Gala makeup. To create the dramatic look, “I layered three different hues of bronze on and around her eyes, keeping the darker shades on the inner and outer part of her eye,” the pro explains. "I added the lighter of the three shades on the center of the lids for more dimension."

A mix of light and dark metallic tones makes the look super-dramatic, says Kate’s makeup artist Adam Breuchaud. First, he applied a shimmery golden shade all over the lid, before using an orange-toned gold as the highlight and a copper shade as the medium tone. To add drama, he finished with a swipe of a deep bronze cream shade as a liner and at the outer corners of her eyes.
The secret to Jourdan’s ethereal shimmery look is easy: Makeup artist Renee Garnes simply swiped a pale pink metallic shadow on her lids and inner corners after contouring her eyes, which created a subtle-yet-sultry glow.

A look as mesmerizing as Dakota's has a secret weapon to make it really shine (so to speak), says Laura Mercier celebrity makeup artist Pati Dubroff. First, Dubroff swept lids with a metallic khaki green shadow -- then "I topped it with a shimmery face illuminator to create that gorgeous metallic shade," she says.
