Melissa McCarthy slays on the red carpet, yet again.

The
Ghostbusters
star showed off her shrinking figure in a flowing black dress on Friday while hosting an event for shoe designer Brian Atwood in Los Angeles. The number featured subtle black polka dots, a keyhole neckline and a component McCarthy, 45, is particularly passionate about: sleeves!

While developing her own fashion line, the actress had to fight for sleeves in some of her own designs.

“I was actually told once [by a manufacturer she’s not working with now], ‘Plus-size women do not want sleeves, in any capacity,'” she told PEOPLE earlier this year. “I was like, ‘Are you crazy? That’s not accurate! I am plus-size, and I want them, I have friends who are size 26 and size 8 and they want a sleeve!”

For the star-studded event attended by Kris Jenner, Kate Hudson and Rachel Zoe, McCarthy accessorized with open-toed pumps and a chevron cheetah clutch. And for a pop of color, she went with a red lip.

The Spy star decided to dive head first into the fashion industry when getting dressed no longer became fun for her.

“It had become a daily reminder of all of my imperfections,” she told PEOPLE. “For the first time in my life it had stopped bringing me joy.”

Now with her line Seven7, McCarthy has endless choices.

“You should be able to wake up and say, ‘I am wearing weird boots and leopard pants and a ripped-up T-shirt and a leather jacket and a big bow in my hair,'” she said. “I’m a mom with two kids – and I wear leather pants and cheetah-print and all kinds of crazy stuff.”

So McCarthy’s Friday night look might not have been that crazy, but we applaud her either way.
