“Margot is 25 and super-fun,” says her stylist Kate Young. “She’s open to risk and having a good time.” According to Young, Robbie spotted this pre-fall gown in an editorial (it was on the cover of a couple of international fashion magazines earlier this summer). “It’s not like there are just three gowns in the fitting,” says Young. “There are crazy fun gowns that don’t work.” But this one “made everybody laugh.” The finishing touches on this already wild dress? Two Cartier rings, one of which is a gold panther.
IN ALEXANDER MCQUEEN
This sequin unicorn dress was totally NSFW on the runway– the dotted sheer lining on the sleeves extended all the way down the bodice. Rather than a typical “red carpet” updo, Robbie rocked an undone chignon. “Margot kind of had her hair tied in a knot for her fitting, so [hairstylist Renato Campora] was doing his version of that,” says Young. “And a dark lip seemed like the thing that would look coolest.”
“When I work with really beautiful women like Margot, I don’t like to put them in classically sexy ‘attractive girl’ clothing because it can look cheesy,” says Young. “Something has to be interesting or edgy or even plain because she is so crazy-pretty.” Even when she’s totally covered-up, she looks chic. It’s worth pointing out that Young herself designed the sunnies Robbie is wearing— they’re from her line, Kate Young for Tura.
IN ROSETTA GETTY
Young knows that she’s done a lot of black and white, but it’s never boring, and totally of-the-moment. “There was so much black and white in the Resort collections!” she says. “It feels really fresh.” Those heels are Givenchy, and yes, she does wear them multiple times on this tour.
This head-to-toe Gucci look isn’t just a girly floral dress and heels: There are touches of critters everywhere, like bees in the pattern of the dress and crystal panthers on the top of her platforms. Her bag even is stitched with embroidered hearts. This look is proof that you can make multiple statement pieces work if you own it— Robbie looks totally thrilled with this outfit and we’re right there with her.
IN ELIE SAAB
“I knew when I saw it that this would look good on her,” says Young. “With her body, that’s exactly what she likes: She loves to show her shoulders and she has great legs. She looks good in a little bit of a mock neck. This is an ideal little black dress for her.”
IN ISA ARFEN
Her most casual ensemble of the tour (cropped pants in a poppy red, a striped blouse with an open neckline and black flat sandals) is still polished without being stuffy.
IN PROENZA SCHOULER
More black and white! All the simple accessories (a small red Gucci purse, her go-to Givenchy heels and a plain black top) let the ladylike skirt take center stage (or center street, as it were).
