Here at PeopleStyle we’re constantly keeping up with every single thing celebrities wear. That dress, pair of jeans, necklace, shoe – we know who made it and where to get it. In fact, we have an entire gallery dedicated to answering those types of questions from readers. But we got one request this week that we loved so much, we’re doing a special emergency You Asked, We Found post.

One reader reached out asking where she could get Mama June Shannon‘s red revenge dress, the one she wore in her PEOPLE exclusive reveal. So we immediately tracked down the designer, where you can buy it and spoke with her stylist on set, David Taveras, to find out all the details on her Hot-to-Not transformation photoshoot.

Mama June went from a size 18 to a size 4 through gastric sleeve surgery, a breast augmentation, skin removal (and a few more procedures that totaled a whopping $75,000!). And to debut her new figure, she had an ultra-glam photoshoot to celebrate. Turns out, the plunging wrap dress in the photo above is a Lauren Ralph Lauren Jersey Surplice gown (currently only available in black) at Macy’s for $144.99.

And the second red dress from the shoot (Taveras says blondes and red “go really well together”) is a Hervé Léger design from Bloomingdales. While the exact same style isn’t currently available, we found some great alternatives, below.

Taveras knew who he’d be styling, but he didn’t know that she had been in hiding for weeks in preparation for her big reveal. And with only “heels” listed as a no-go, Taveras came prepared: “I still brought Manolos and Weitzman but tried to get low heels or wedges.”

He also planned for a variety of different looks, from full-on gowns to sweats. “You always want to have a bit of a range because it all changes day of,” he said. “I had to get a range of sizes as well; she is petite so that adds challenges and you are never sure how each designer’s sizes actually fit. Shapewear is always a must as well … it’ll tuck away those areas we all hate!”

Throughout the whole styling process, the star was just as down-to-earth as she is on her show. “I do not think anything surprises Mama June,” Taveras says. “She was up for almost anything. I was surprised by how open she was to just trying anything and by how long she lasted in some of these tight dresses after her surgery.”

And while she won’t wear button-downs or heels, she did gravitate toward some of the more fun accessories, including the necklace she wore in the reveal. “It is very rare that I get to use such a fun piece like that one!” he says. “I prayed no one would get scared by how grand it was and let me use it. I got a few other glitzy pieces, and luckily I had grabbed a few clip on earrings because her ears were not pierced.”

In the end, the most fun part was helping Mama June feel beautiful. “I would say the end result [was the most rewarding],” Taveras says. “I sincerely think she looks transformed! It was fun to take her so far from her usual style. There’s humor in the juxtaposition of her styling to who she is, but no one can laugh at her: she looks good!”
