Because, really, she can do anything
Now girls can do more than just look up to superteen Maddie Ziegler, they can dress like her, too.
The 13-year-old dance prodigy, So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation judge, soon-to-be author and Sia protégé is launching Maddie, her first clothing line for girls and juniors, this fall — and PeopleStyle has the exclusive first look.
“I’m very excited about it because this whole line is pretty much clothes that I’d want to wear,” she says in the exclusive behind-the-secenes video above. “There’s a gap I feel. Kids’ clothes are either too childish or something I would never wear. And sometimes adult clothes are either too big on me or it’s just too grown up for me. I’m really excited to find the in-between so we can relate to what we want to wear instead of trying to look like something we’re not.”
Her own personal style, which she describes as “casual chic and tomboyish yet girly,” influenced the 30-piece collection, which features her favorite items like bomber jackets, flannel shirts, high-waisted jeans, baseball tees, gray slouchy sweaters and tops that say the line’s tagline, “wear what moves you.”
“The looks are comfy and versatile, with pieces you can mix and match,” she adds. And, most importantly, they’re made to move in — a must for her on-the-go dancer lifestyle. “These are all pieces you can dance in. I want everyone to feel comfortable and not restrictive.”
The collection will range from $25 to $150, and range in sizes 7 to 16 for girls and 1, 3 and 5 for juniors. It drops on maddiestyle.com on October 3rd and and select Nordstrom stores on October 10th.
