Lifestyle Style Lupita Nyong'o Looks Ever So Much Like Royalty in Elie Saab at 'Queen of Katwe' Premiere in L.A. Lupita Nyong’o slayed the red carpet at yet another Queen of Katwe red carpet event, this time looking like fashion royalty at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The Oscar winning actress donned a lavender gown from the Elie Saab Resort 2017 collection, and might we add that this silhouette reminds us a bit of when Nyong’o, 33, had her Cinderella moment at the 2014 Oscars. The star topped her look with a color coordinated headdress to continue her seriously impressive streak of gorgeous head wraps. “I’ve always enjoyed playing dress-up before the red carpet and even after,” Nyong’o told PEOPLE recently, adding she feels “more comfortable and playful” with her style choices. Her red carpet confidence, as of late, may be inspired by her character Harriet Mutesi, the mother of young Ugandan chess champion Phiona Mutesi. Nyong’o told Entertainment Weekly that her decision to play Harriet occurred after reading the Disney script’s first ten pages, sharing, “It was the first time I felt really awakened by a script and super challenged.” Queen of Katwe is set for a limited release on Sept. 23, followed by a nationwide release on Sept. 30.
